Maqui berry (Aristotelia chilensis), also known as Chilean wineberry, is native to the rainforests of South America. The small evergreen tree, up to 16 feet tall, produces white flowers at the end of spring, and these flowers eventually yield small fruit. The small purple-black berries are up to ¼ inch in diameter and contain 4-8 seeds. Traditionally, locals consumed the berries in the form of fresh fruit or juice.

Maqui berries are high in dietary fiber, rich in iron, and a good source of vitamin C, calcium and potassium. They are very rich in anthocyanins, the pigments responsible for producing blues, purples and reds in plants, and they contain many other bioactive compounds like delphinidin, malvidin, petunidin, cyanidin, coumarins, triterpenes and flavonoids.*

The maqui berry, a treasure of the Mapuche Indians of South America, is a traditional symbol of health and vitality. MaquiForza™ is produced from certified organic maqui berries native to Chile, which have been freeze-dried using the unique patented QFD technology.

Quality Control:

NP Nutra’s MaquiForza™ is produced in a BRC certified facility.

The raw materials are carefully selected, cultivated and processed resulting in a premium freeze-dried powder with exception levels of anthocyanins and polyphenols.

QFD freeze-drying technology reduces the vacuum to 50 times lower than the standard freeze-drying process, with lower surface temperature and shorter drying time. This unique process, which uses the whole fruit, maintains 50-70% more anthocyanin content1, resulting in a very potent organic, freeze-dried MaquiForza™

Active Constituents:

Maqui berries are rich in anthocyanins and contain many other bioactive compounds like delphinidin, malvidin, petunidin, cyanidin, coumarins, triterpenes and flavonoids. They are high in dietary fiber, rich in iron, and a good source of vitamin C, calcium and potassium.

Anthocyanins:

Anthocyanins are potent plant compounds responsible for the deep purple to black color in fruits, vegetables and flowers. The word anthocyanin comes from two Greek words meaning “plant” and “blue.” Scientists say that the harsh climate of central and southern Chile, together with high solar radiation have increased the anthocyanins in the fruits and berries that are grown in that region.

History:

The Mapuche Indians are the only known indigenous people in the Americas who have never been conquered by an invading force. For centuries the Mapuche have consumed the maqui berry for strength, stamina and to improve their health. The maqui berry tea-drinking Mapuches successfully resisted many attacking armies, including the Spanish conquistadors, the Mayans and the Incans! *
